Here are the resources and next steps mentioned in the video.

  • Volunteer Sermons.  This is a sermon you could preach on a day when you recruit volunteers from the stage.  We recommend you schedule a day like this at least once a year.  Make sure you schedule your next steps and follow up to coincide with your message.  Make it a church-wide effort!
  • Volunteer Interest Card.  Here’s a sample interest card you could use at the conclusion of that message.  Remember, your goal is to get people to indicate interest so you can follow up with them and connect them to the next step (not sign up to begin volunteering next week).
  • Group Leader Training.  This resource is some training that we did for all of our small group leaders.  We did it in a classroom setting across four sessions.  The first sessions were the same for all small group leaders.  In the final session, we divided to tackle age-specific issues.
  • Five Volunteer Job Descriptions.  Every volunteer needs a written job description and here are five samples you can use to create your own.  Make sure they match your culture and customize each to perfectly fit the role.  People need to know what they are doing and writing it down on a sheet of paper provides clarity.
  • Volunteer Lanyards.  We didn’t talk about this in the video, but these are some lanyards we made to identify all the volunteers across each volunteer team.  You’ve got the original files if you want to customize and use them.
